Recreational Gymnastics Australia (RGA) is honoured to welcome former Olympian Brennon Dowrick OAM to the team.
One of Australia’s most successful gymnasts, Brennon’s list of achievements is long, including representing Australia at two Olympic games, three Commonwealth Games and seven World Championships.
In his new role, Brennon will introduce clubs to the many benefits that RGA can provide to its recreational gymnasts, coaches and owners.
“I’m very excited to be working with RGA. Even though I have an elite background in my sport, I have always been passionate about recreational gymnastics in our country. I believe everyone should be able to experience our sport at any level. It would be wonderful to see even more participants in our many clubs,” said Brennon.
“I want to see our Aussie gymnasts perform on the World stage and win medals for our country at the highest level. To do this, we need a strong foundation of as many recreational gymnasts as possible participating in our sport. If we look after the grassroots level of our sport and increase our numbers in recreational gymnastics then ultimately we will have a much larger base of potential gymnasts that may have what it takes to continue onto elite gymnastics. More gymnasts equals better results.”
Belgravia Group’s Geoff Lord welcomed Brennon to the team and said it was an honour to have him on board.
“We are very pleased to have Brennon as part of RGA. He has lived and breathed the sport of gymnastics since he was a child and represented our country at the highest level. His knowledge of all facets of the sport will be a great asset to our team and the growth of RGA.”
Brennon has already enjoyed immersing himself in the recreational gymnastics’ community as part of the new role.
“It has been great catching up with people that have been involved with gymnastics from years ago when I was competing as well as people who have just started their involvement in the sport. The inspiring thing is, all people involved with gymnastics have a huge passion to see more gymnasts participate in our sport and see it grow from strength to strength.
“I have always been very proud of my results for Australia competing at the top level. I will continue to give back to the sport that has been such a big part of my life. I have served on the Australian Olympic Athletes Commission as well as the Australian Gymnastics Board and am a Life Member of the sport. I continue to work as a Keynote Speaker giving presentations all over the world which has also given me a platform to spread the word on how fantastic the sport of gymnastics is for all.”
